Being an Intern at Bounce Creative Designs

Kuno our French Intern
An Intern at Bounce Creative Designs

We’ve just waved a teary au revoir to our French intern, Kuno, who just headed home - we will really miss having him around the Bounce office. He now has his placement under his belt and he can now continue his studies at college in France.

Having an intern was not something we’d actually sought out or considered before, but Kuno reached out to us after another company recommended us to him. A few emails and zoom call gave us confidence in this spirited young guy – full of curiosity and very motivated to secure his internship. We hoped one day another company would return this gesture for our children in the future – there’s no harm in giving someone an opportunity.

As he excitedly planned his trip, Government measures were tightening and getting into the UK looked increasingly difficult, but Kuno was determined and persevered with his visit. From his first day with us, his delightful, friendly personality shone and he just slotted in and felt like one of the team. He arrived with no prior office experience and had never used many of the IT programs we introduced him to, but with guidance from the team, he picked everything up very quickly.

Kuno experienced different aspects of the company by working alongside each member of the team and assisting them with their work, so he practised some 3D CAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, SEO, and the entire sales process – all of which he became very good at.

He quickly became familiar with our suppliers and products, quoting clients and providing visuals using their artwork. Whilst with us, he successfully managed to get a few of his own orders in and learnt how to process them, all within his first week of working on sales. Kuno was not afraid to ask questions and followed instructions and advice extremely well, you could see his confidence within the job growing everyday.

We are happy to say that we’ve given this bright student an excellent all-round experience working in a promotional merchandise office, which he enjoyed just as much as we appreciated having him.

Just as Kuno was really settling in at Bounce, seeing the great sights of London and making local friends his Government called international students to return from their internships early. This was quite sad news, but he had no choice but to leave as requested. We made sure we gave him a good send off and enjoyed a lovely team dinner and drinks before he left. So, after this experience we will happily keep our door open to Kuno, if he can return to the UK. We would also keep an open mind to interns and apprentices in the future, though he’ll be a tough act to follow!
